Madrid Chess Festival, 10-15 June 2024.
- IM Levy Rozman (Gotham Chess), IM David Martínez, and GM Pepe Cuenca are organizing the first “Madrid Chess Festival” from June 10th to June 15th, 2024, in Madrid.
Two closed tournaments valid for GM (and IM) norms and a Swiss tournament for players with FIDE ELO 2000 or higher, valid for Standard FIDE Elo.

- The time control will be 90 minutes for the entire game plus a 30-second increment per move. Clocks will start at the specified time on the game schedule. A player who does not show up after 30 minutes from the start of the round will lose the game due to absence. An unjustified absence may result in expulsion from the tournament.
- Venue: Ajedrez con Cabeza (Avenida de Filipinas 52, Madrid)
- Format:
- Closed Tournaments (Round Robin): The tournaments will have a Round-Robin format with 10 players: everyone plays against everyone else. Tiebreak criteria will be applied in the following order: Sonnenborg-Berger, Koya System, number of victories, head-to-head result, and drawing of lots.
- Open Tournament (Swiss) FIDE ELO >2000: The tournaments will be Swiss-system with a program approved by FIDE. Tiebreakers: Median-Buchholz, Total Buchholz, Cumulative, number of victories, and drawing of lots.
- Three half-point byes will be allowed until the seventh round, requested at the beginning of the tournament.
- A limit of 50 players in the Swiss tournament.
- Only players with over 2000 FIDE Elo at the time of registration will be admitted. Please consult the organization if interested with less Elo.
- Players will not be able to agree to a draw before 30 moves without the consent of the arbiter.
- The main arbiter for the tournaments will be AI Daniel Rodríguez, and the assistant arbiter will be AI Mireia Ramón.
- The decisions of the main arbiter will be final and cannot be appealed.
- Registration for the tournament implies acceptance of these Rules. For matters not covered by them, FIDE rules and recommendations will apply.
- Players may not leave the playing area without justification or permission from the arbiters.
- During the game, it is forbidden for a player to have any electronic device. Devices may be stored completely turned off in a bag that must be in the place designated by the arbiters.

- Spanish players must have a federation license to participate in these tournaments (FEDA regulations). Players who are not on the registered list of the Spanish Chess Federation cannot register.
- Participants authorize the organization to use the personal data provided, as well as photos or videos, for the purposes of managing the tournament and for their sports information in the media and on the Internet.
- Participants agree to appear in live broadcasts of the event and to appear playing against opponents who are broadcasting their game on the Internet, with a fixed camera on the table, broadcasting their match on their channels.
